Dairy Producers of New Mexico
President's Letter
Luke Woelber
April, 2014

Beverly, Kaye, and I just returned from visiting our delegation in Washington D.C. We saw some old familiar faces and some new ones as well. In all of our visits, our representatives were supportive as well as concerned for the industry. They want to know how to help, maintain, and support our vital industry.

While we were there, we also had the opportunity to meet with Edward Avalos, USDA Undersecretary of Marketing and Regulatory Programs, as well as Dana Coale, Deputy Administrator for USDA/AMS/Dairy Programs. We were able to have good, frank conversations about the new Dairy Title in the Farm Bill. We also were able to offer suggestions for some of the finer details which have not been worked out. And, we talked with them about some potential federal order changes that might be coming over the horizon.

All in all, it was a very productive and informative visit. We have the support of our delegation as well as a good relationship with USDA. Of course, none of this would be possible without the hard work of all the ladies in the office.

Thank you for your continued support of DPNM. If you need anything, please feel free to contact anyone on the board or call the office.
